Tectonic Bottle #4

The “Tectonic” series is inspired by my years in the mountains of the desert southwest. In the format of the vessel I’m exploring ideas and observations about geologic forces, expansion, contraction and erosion. Created originally on the potters- wheel, each vessel is strategically shocked and broken during and after it’s firing. The resulting fragments are then colorized with multiple patinas and reassembled into the original form. This series fascinates me with it’s relationships of color, surface and directional force, all being captured within a classic vessel form.
